A compelling two-year campaign for PLOS was created, showcasing our commitment to empowering researchers practicing Open Science. The initiative highlighted the importance of making scientific work open, transparent, and reproducible, fostering collaboration and accessibility. Rooted in the idea that the future of science depends on the foundations we lay today, the campaign revolved around the concept of an expansive, boundless world. Visuals and messaging inspired researchers to join PLOS on a journey, exploring the limitless possibilities of discovery, and emphasizing the lasting impact Open Science can have on future generations.
Thank You for Practicing Open Science
At the heart of the project was a video designed to celebrate and thank researchers for their dedication to practicing Open Science. I collaborated closely with internal stakeholders to shape the voice, concept, and creative direction, and partnered with Duke and Duck, a motion graphics studio, to bring the visuals and narrative to life, creating a powerful and engaging story.
Campaign work
An evergreen campaign was developed to amplify this narrative and its accompanying visuals, generating sustained interest and engagement with PLOS. The visuals became cornerstone elements of our brand identity, seamlessly integrated into ongoing campaigns and general marketing materials, ensuring consistency and reinforcing the message across all platforms. The imagery stood out as bold and innovative, unlike anything being produced by other scientific publishers. It broke away from traditional conventions, creating a distinctive visual identity that set PLOS apart in the scientific community.
Enduring assets
The video’s rich and versatile visuals were repurposed extensively across various PLOS platforms, highlighting different aspects of the content to align with specific needs. These materials were designed with a forward-looking perspective, emphasizing optimism and progress for the greater good. They were prominently featured across social media, advertisements, websites, and other branded materials, ensuring consistent messaging and broad reach.
